Grid Painting Guestbook March 26, 2009

This is why I love wedding blogs so much. After reading my post on alternative guestbook options, Emilie gave me a link to the most fabulous idea which takes the vague painting by number concept I had to a whole new level. Check these out:

 

This couple used a grid system and invited each guest to paint a square on the canvas, creating an awesome memento to hang on their wall that doesn’t scream “wedding.” I love it! I’m stuck between this idea and creating a custom coloring book on Blurb with our engagement pictures…too many amazing choices is a good thing! Thanks for sharing Emilie

DC Bound March 19, 2009

Net-A-Porter Wedding Boutique March 18, 2009

There is no better place for couture eye candy on the web than Net-A-Porter, and now they have a wedding boutique! I especially love that they have a stylish mother of the bride section, and a guest section split up what type of affair you’ll be attending. Of course a lot of the items are pretty pricey, but it’s worth a look all the same for fashion forward inspiration.

The deconstructed web-like look of this necklace is gorgeous and would be so pretty on an edgy bride.

A classic cocktail dress with unexpected metal detailing. I love it.

This dress is all about the back, and $895, it’s still cheaper than a lot of wedding gowns out there.

Of course I had to post some shoes. Beach wedding, honeymoon, rehearsal dinner, I could find so many excuses to wear these.

 

 

Vintage Look for Less March 8, 2009

All of this for only $286.42? I saw this gorgeous chiffon dress with beaded cap sleeves and immediately thought what a statement it would make on a vintage inspired bride. This look would require a somewhat crafty touch, but I think fashioning a belt out of ribbon and an antique belt buckle ($14) and turning bits of rescued tulle, netting, and flowers ($12) into something like this would be so worth the challenge:

A Picnic Wedding March 5, 2009

This post is inspired by my fabulous friend Julie who recently got engaged, and who has already captured my imagination with her whirlwind planning (the wedding is scheduled for August, that’s barely 6 months away!). Julie and her fiance are committed to throwing a community centered, local inspired, eco and budget friendly wedding complete with picnic style reception in an outdoor amphitheatre. How cool is that? I’m sure I’ll coerce her to share some of her wedding details on the site, but until then here are some of the gorgeous images already floating through my mind. I can’t wait to see what they come up with!
