Vintage Look for Less March 8, 2009

All of this for only $286.42? I saw this gorgeous chiffon dress with beaded cap sleeves and immediately thought what a statement it would make on a vintage inspired bride. This look would require a somewhat crafty touch, but I think fashioning a belt out of ribbon and an antique belt buckle ($14) and turning bits of rescued tulle, netting, and flowers ($12) into something like this would be so worth the challenge:

What is Millinery anyway? March 14, 2008

According to, millinery is defined as “articles, especially women’s hats, sold by a milliner.” Basically, its a female version of a haberdashery, a word I love for no reason and never get a chance to use! I’m telling you all this, because I stumbled on the awesome work of Leah C. Couture Millinery. Her work which ranges from veils to hats to headpieces has been featured in many bridal magazines, and no wonder because it is absolutely beautiful. Like many of the other vendors featured on this blog she will also work with you to create a custom piece to coordinate with the rest of your bridal look. Her site is definitely worth a look, whether you have a wedding or a Kentucky Derby in your future, or if you’re like me and you wished women still wore fabulous hats all the time!
