a journey toward non-traditional wedded bliss, with style

Half a million? Really? September 24, 2009

I just came across this on CocoPerez and had to post – wedding planner David Tutera has created this frothy, bedazzled concoction that is dripping with platinum, diamonds and pearls. It only costs $500,000. Even on a model it looks ill fitting and gaudy. And it costs half a million dollars. I’ll say it again, really?

Bundled Up Bride November 13, 2008

Having to buy lots of cute coats and shawls has been the one redeeming factor of moving to a place where they actually have winters. The sudden drop in temperature has got me thinking about what to wear over wedding dresses, even though my own wedding is in May…but you never know, it could be chilly right?

This Foley + Corinna wrap may not be incredibly warm, but it is incredibly gorgeous. I love the keyhole detail and the front drapes beautifully too!

For something with a little more warmth and a lot more drama, you could do a floor length velvet coat. This embroidered Art Deco era version is $175 at Unique Vintage.

The pleating on this taffeta Oscar de la Renta wrap from Nordstrom is so pretty. They also have a sweet faux fur shrug if that’s more your style.

How fun is this retro satin jacket from Malleries? I can totally see some cute vintage style bride rocking the hot pink!

Simple Silhouettes April 29, 2008

Like many other wedding bloggers I enjoy checking the search terms people use to bring them to my site. Some of them are fairly hilarious: for example “Dita Von Teese eyebrows,” “what did Mayans eat” and straight up “nude” (I’m pretty sure that person was sorely disappointed). However, one of the more popular hits that actually makes sense are people looking for simple or non traditional wedding dresses. With that in mind, I wanted to share my newest find, Simple Silhouettes. If you’re looking for a classy, no frills dress on a budget Christina Dalle Pezze might be your girl. Like most of the sites I promote, all her gowns are custom made and you can pick from a variety of fabrics and styles, or mix and match. She will also custom make your veil, accessories, and purse. As an added bonus, her bridesmaid dresses are simple and sweet, and could easily be worn again if you’re looking in that department. Happy browsing!

Alice Padrul Gowns March 16, 2008

I’m always on the hunt for unique bridal designers, and I like the light and airy feel of these designs by Alice Padrul. I’m all for dresses that allow you to move easily and not having to worry about tying a bustle would be a perk too!
